Open Board Positions
Conference Chair – Responsible for conferences including but not limited to an annual conference or other training program distinct from the regular programs. Plans and oversees conferences in accordance with general guidelines set forth by the Board at its first meeting of the year. Recruits a committee to organize and conduct conferences including recruiting speakers, finding a venue, and planning content. Assigns tasks and oversees progress. Reports on the work of the committee at the Annual Meeting. For external conferences, acts as chapter liaison and may add extra committees as required.
Secretary – The Secretary of the chapter takes minutes at all Board meetings, distributes such minutes for review to each attending member of the Board in a timely manner, motions for approval of prior minutes at meetings, and forwards approved minutes to each member of the Board. The Secretary, in coordination with the Vice President, maintains the Chapter’s Bylaws. The Secretary may assume the duties of other Directors, as needed.
Newsletter Chair – The Newsletter Chair reports to the chapter president and works closely with other chapter board members to compile, edit, design, write the final copy (or edit copy supplied by others), and lay out the final copy of the quarterly newsletter. The Newsletter Chair recruits assistance from the membership and the board for articles, member highlights, research stories, etc. The position ensures timely distribution (via e-mail) of the newsletter to members, provides monthly updates at the board of directors meetings, attends all membership and board of directors meetings, participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.
